Abstract:
No one has written about the houses of Ivan Monastyrsky in the city center. There is a variety of information on the Internet, in newspaper articles, in the memoirs of people of past years. Have you heard
and about the Swiss Hotel, later called Suisse. From history we remember that the great Russian bass Fyodor Chaliapin, the French writer Henri Barbusse, the Italian singer Caruso and many other celebrities stayed at this hotel. At different periods, the architecture of these houses changed - two houses were combined into one, and its purpose also changed.
Vladimir Pavlovich Tarnakin and Zinaida Sergeevna Matey, set ourselves the task of opening the brackets, making the history of Monastyrsky’s houses truthful, accessible to everyone who is interested in the historical past of their city and their country. The time has come to put everything in its place, based on archival documents. And for many, the dates of construction of these houses will be a revelation.
